Martin County Schools Superintendent Larry James said he made the call to send two buses to Lawrence County to shuttle folks from parking areas to the fairgrounds last week. a local news media in Martin County reported.
Lawrence County School Board Chairman Heath Preston and Supt. Rob Fletcher said they wanted to follow “board policy” in refusing the busses for transportation help to shuttle the large crowd attending the Lawrence County Fair.
“I agreed to the request,” James said Tuesday regarding questions raised after Lawrence County BOE chairman Heath Preston, local media reported.
James received a call Friday from Lawrence County School District transportation director Rick Blackburn.
James said he was trying to be a “good neighbor,” the newspaper said.

I guess the old saying that “no good deed goes unpunished”. This is when bureaucratic policy and red tape gets in the way of being a good neighbor. I guess being a good person gets in the way of plain old humanity!
