INEZ, KY. — August 6 the Roy F. Collier Community Center board announced that it had temporarily ceased operations but all tenants would remain open for business.
The decision was made due to the Covid 19 pandemic and financial insecurity, the center’s FB page said. The board of directors have since had several fund raisers with one on August 20.
Hillbilly Hibachi and the Kiwanis Club Lemonade Stand were there and donating all proceeds to the community Center.
”We love to support any community that supports us. Inez was the first place we went when we started traveling and they have been a key to our success,” Hillbilly Hibachi owner Adam Brown told the Lazer. “The inez community center doesn’t need to shut down. It’s going to be a big blow to the community if it does.”
Hillbilly Hibachi donated more than $1200 to the center with their sales on Thursday in only about an hour and a half. An online bake sale to benefit the center is the next fundraiser to be hosted. Inez is trying hard to save their community center with the help of some many communities.
