Fort Gay, W. Va. — Fort Gay and Crum area kids got some news on Saturday after it was announced that the Tolsia Youth League will have Football in some sort of fashion in 2020 and it will be free for all participants.
The league will start sign ups on Saturday June 18th at Crum K-8 School from Noon until 1:30 and on the old Fort Gay Middle school lawn from 2:00 until 3:00. The league will practice social distancing and wear mask.
Youth League Coach Darrin Parsley posted these comments on his Facebook page
“… The football season is fast approaching and here are a few details that I know at this point. Games and practices will be held at Tolsia High school. Practices will take place on the baseball outfield. It is our responsibility to help clean up our trash when we use these facilities. The high school is being very good to us and we need to show them support by keeping everything looking nice.”
“… The sign up fees are free for all children this season. We have had an anonymous donor that wishes to see as many kids as possible line the field wearing orange and blue this season. Moving forward we are still at the liberty of national and state governments and the WVSSAC. As of now it looks as if we will be having some form of football this season. Whether it is a shortened or modified season, I do not know that answer at the moment. This is optimism and not set in stone but hopefully by mid to late July we will start conditioning. There will be an in person signup June 18 from 12-130 at crum school and from 2-330 at the old fort gay lawn. Social distancing and face covers will be utilized for everyone’s safety..”
“..l. There will be more signup dates to follow. We will also be taking signups online Tolsia Signups page.
