BULLDOG BASEBALL STAR MAKES VERBAL COMMITMENT TO MOREHEAD ST

LED STATE IN HOME RUNS LAST SEASON...

BO BRUMFIELD by BO BRUMFIELD

Louisa, Ky — Lawrence Co. baseball star Jackson Feltner, who will be a senior this fall at LCHS has decided he will play college baseball just one hour and fifteen minutes down the road after verbally committing to Morehead St. University over the weekend.

Jackson Feltner will play his college ball close to home.

Feltner led the state in home runs this past season with 14 and helped lead the Dawgs to a school record 35 victories and a 15th Region crown.

Morehead St. plays in the Ohio Valley Conference and went 40-21 overall and 19-11 in OVC play and lost in the conference championship game to Jacksonville St. one game short of the NCAA Tournament this season.

The Eagles will be under the direction of first year Head Coach Mik Aoki this upcoming season.

Feltner has visited East Tennessee St and Murray St. among others.

Feltner is playing this summer with Ashland Post 76 and has had a great summer so far.

From Twitter

PLAYER’S COMMENT

“… Excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Morehead State University! I would like to thank my God, my family, and my coaches for supporting me. I would also like to thank coach Aoki for giving me the opportunity to play baseball for MSU!”

LCHS Head baseball Coach Travis Feltner

COACH’S COMMENTS

“ …Very thankful for Coach Aoki and Morehead State University for the opportunity they’ve extended to Jackson.”

“… Jackson has been a relentless worker that has had to put a lot into it to get to this point. It’s good to see kids get rewarded for that sacrifice and labor that has been made.”

“ Not many kids get this opportunity at this level and again we are very appreciative. I’ve coached a long time (21 years) and have been blessed to see a lot of young men continue on past high school. This one is certainly a little extra special for me personally as well as Melinda.”
