AUGUST 15, 2017

A LAWRENCE COUNTY GRAND JURY met last week and came up with twenty seven indictments, many on Meth charges. The number of indictments could be due to the fact the GJ did not meet in July.

Michael D. BlankenshipMichael D. Blankenship, 45, of Louisa, KY. Indicted on charges of 2 counts of TRAFFICKING IN A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITHIN 1000 FT OF SCHOOL, TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE, PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE, UNLAWFUL TRANSACTION WITH A MINOR IN THE THIRD DEGREE, RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY UNDER $500, and POSSESSION/USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before March 30, 2017 the above named defendant committed the offenses by

1. knowingly and unlawfully being in possession with intent to traffic or by trafficking in a schedule II controlled substance, hydrocodone while being within 1000 feet of LEES.
2. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully was in possession with the intent to traffic or by trafficking in marijuana, hydrocodone within 1000 feet of LEES.
3. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully concealed, removed, destroyed, or altered physical evidence in which he believed would be used against him in an official preceding.
4. charged as a persistent felony offender for having been previously convicted of 2 prior felonies before these charges.
