Valentines Day traffic stops on Rt. 23
FRANKFORT, Ky., February 11, 2016 – Kentucky Power plans to intermittently stop traffic in both directions along U.S. Route 23 in Lawrence County on Sunday, Feb. 14, to allow crews to install new equipment. No interruption of electrical service is expected while work is performed.
Workers are scheduled to install a new power line across U.S. 23 as part of circuit upgrades in the Burnaugh/Fallsburg area. The work zone will be near mile marker 22.6 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Workers will make every effort to keep the traffic stops as brief as possible.
Kentucky Power has notified highway officials, law enforcement agencies and local authorities of the road closures and power outage, and has obtained all necessary work-related permits. Professional traffic control personnel will be used to manage traffic and lane closures. In the event of inclement weather, the project will be rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21.
Kentucky Power is an operating unit of American Electric Power and provides electricity to nearly 170,000 customers in all or part of 20 Eastern Kentucky counties.
