Bulldogs also lock up #1 seed in District Tourney with win over Pike Central Thursday night
Louisa, Ky. — In front of a standing room only crowd on Saturday Night two of the top three teams in the 15th Region, the Lawrence Co. Bulldogs ( 21-4 ) and Johnson Central Golden Eagles ( 13-10 ), put on a show that could not be settled in regulation.
In the overtime session Lawrence Co. outscored Johnson Central 13-4 and came away with a 93-84 come from behind overtime victory.
The Dawgs jumped out to a 18-11 lead after one quarter and looked to put Johnson Central away early but the Golden Eagles had other ideas as they stormed back to tie the game at 37 and gain all of the momentum at halftime.
In the 3rd quarter the two teams traded body blows and were tied once again at 55 heading to the 4th quarter.
Johnson Central led by as many as six points in the 4th and was up five with a minute left when Timmy Dalton converted a three point play and then Lawrence Co. got a steal and bucket to tie the game at 80 before both teams turned the ball over in the last ten seconds to force overtime.
JC got the first basket in overtime but LC answered right back as Brandon Richardson drilled a three pointer to give the Dawgs the lead and they never looked back.
Timmy Dalton led four players in double figures for the winners with 33 points while pulling down 7 boards, Austin Chaffins had 19 points and 8 rebounds, Brandon Richardson had 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, Grant Kiser had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists,
Robert Dalton tallied 7 points and was a monster on the glass with 12 rebounds before fouling out late in regulation, Big 6’5″ Josh Ratliff came off the bench to give good minutes had 4 points and 2 rebounds, Shawn Moore chipped in with 1 free throw.
The Dawgs went 9-24 from behind the arc and 20-27 at the foul line. Two big stats for Lawrence Co. only 7 turnovers and out rebounded Central 41-31 on the night.
Johnson Central placed three players in double figures led by Mason Blair who had 36 points including 8 three pointers, Tyler Pack tallied 16 points and 6 rebounds, Cole Crace 17 points, Josh Hitchcock 8 points, Jerry McCarty 3 points and 6 rebounds, Luke Vance 2 points and 7 assists, Dalton Collins chipped in with 2 points. Central was 10-23 from three and 6-15 from the foul line.
Johnson Central has won the 15th Region four years in a row and it looks like these two teams will meet again in the Expo Center in Pikeville next month.

On Thursday night in Pikeville the Lawrence Co. Bulldogs wrapped up the #1 seed in the 60th District Tournament with a 94-79 victory over Pike Co. Central.
The Dawgs placed all five starters in double figures with Timmy Dalton leading all scorers with 27 points, Grant Kiser tallied 21 points, Brandon Richardson recorded 18 points, Austin Chaffins 15, Robert Dalton 11 and Tanner Black had 2 points off the bench. LC hit 11 three’s and went 9-10 from the foul line.
Pike Co. Central was led by Teddy Smith with 25 points.
