Fort Gay, W. Va. — Tolsia Lady Rebels battled County rival Wayne and Cardinal Conference foe Herbert Hoover at home and the Tolsia Boys spent this week on the road at Ambassador Christian and Herbert Hoover.
Last night at Rebel Arena the Tolsia girls came up short after battling back from an early 13 point deficit but couldn’t close the deal. Wayne, a top ten team in Class AA, squeaked by the Lady Rebels for the second time this year 53-48. Wayne led 32-28 at halftime and got some timely shooting to get the road victory.
Tolsia ( 10-8 ) was led by Dena Jarrells with 20 points, Mariah Finley had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, Tash Nichols finished with 6 points before fouling out, Sarah Jude had 4 points and 8 rebounds and Marlee Marcum chipped in with 2 points. Tolsia hit 5 three pointers and went 11-15 from the foul line.
Wayne improved to 14-3 on the year. Hailey McComas led the Lady Pioneers with 16 points.
On Monday at Rebel Arena the Lady Rebels blitzed Herbert Hoover from the get go and came away with a 79-37 victory. Tolsia placed five players in double figures led by Dena Jarrells with 29 points, Mariah Finley tallied 15 points, Tash Nichols with 12, Sarah Jude 12, Marlee Marcum 11, Michaela Messer 8 and Alyssa Cloud chipped in with 1 point. Tolsia hit 8 three’s and went 11-18 from the foul line.
Herbert Hoover was led by Hannah Schoolcraft with 13 points.

” Wayne got a lot off offensive rebounds and second chance points.” We played hard and I’m really proud of my group of girls I wouldn’t want to be in any other locker room.” We have been right with them twice this season, hopefully we will get another shot at Logan in the Secrional.”
Tolsia Boys split two road games
Williamson, W. Va. — On Tuesday Night the Rebels travels to the Williamson Field House to take on Ambassador Christian and pulled out a 66-60 win behind Coty Jude who had 28 points and 20 rebounds,
Tyler Stroud tallied 12 points, Logan Presley 10, Jordan Johnson 8, Wayne Williamson 4, and Blake Rose and Jacob Mollette with 2 points each. Tolsia hit 3 three’s and went 25-39 at the foul line.
Herbert Hoover 43, Tolsia 32
Falling Rock, W. Va. — Last night Tolsia ( 11-7 ) made the long trip to Herbert Hoover and led going into the 4th quarter before going ice cold from the field and being held scoreless and falling 43-32.
Coty Jude led the Rebels with 12 points – all in the first half, Jordan Johnson 8 points, Logan Presley 6 points, Tyler Stroud and Wayne Williamson both hit one three pointer for 3 points. Tolsia hit 6 three pointers but only got to the foul line two times and missed both of those.
Senior night February 9 for Lady Rebs
Both teams will be in action on Tuesday February 9th at Home vs Sissonville it will be Senior Night for the Lady Rebels. First Game will begin at 6:00 at Rebel Arena
