LMS 7th Grade OVC Champions Perfect Season 20-0
Morehead, Ky. — Jared Wellman poured in 20 points and game MVP Baden Gillispie ran the show as the Dawgs completed a perfect 20-0 season with a 39-34 Victory over Boyd Co. for the OVC 7th Grade Tournament Championship.
The Dawgs led 23-14 at halftime and 30-20 at the end of three quarters before Boyd Co. got within a point to make it a great championship game. LMS beat Boyd Co. four times on the season.
Cody Maynard had 8 points, Gillispie had 6 points and Trenton Adkins chipped in with 5 points for the Winners.
The Dawgs hit 4 three pointers and went 11-17 from the line.
Boyd Co. was led by Carson Webb with 12 points

“… Boyd Co. was well prepared and played well, hard to beat a team four times in one season.” I told the boys to not over look this bunch.” Baden Gillispie makes us go he played well all year.” This is what we have been waiting on, I knew we had a talented team but not much depth, but we put it all together and made this run.” This team has a lot grit and heart feels great to win a championship with them.”
LMS 8th grade runners up in OVC tourney
In the 8th Grade Championship game it was Ashland leading from start to finish in a 65-48 victory over Louisa ( 15-5 ).
Ashland led 27-17 at halftime and steadily increased the lead in the second half.
Alex Ratliff led LMS with 12 points, Jared Wellman 11 points, Tyler Maynard 10 points, Chase Sartin 9 points, and Corbin Fairchild 8 points. The Dawgs hit 3 three pointers and went 9-12 from the foul line.
Ashland was led by Chris May with 18 points

“… Ashland is very good, tough matchup for us, I think they were a little quicker tonight and made big shots all night. We couldn’t get a stop when we needed to, hats off to them they deserve all the credit.” Couldn’t ask for a better group of young men, they always play hard and never give me any grief, they always show up ready to play.” Can’t wait to see these kids in the future it has been a pleasure to coach them.”
