Morehead, Ky. — All Preseason the coaches and players from Louisa Middle talked about playing for a Championship and after a successful regular season the 7th and 8th Grade teams are one win away each from accomplishing that goal. Both teams have played a tough schedule to get ready.
LMS 52 Mason Co. 28 7th Grade
On Saturday Afternoon in the First Round of the OVC Tournament the Dawgs who came in as the #1 seed took it to Mason Co. from start to finish and came away with the victory.
Jared Wellman paced the winners with 21 points, Cody Maynard tallied 18 points, Baden Gillispie 6 points, Trenton Adkins 3 points, Brock Kessinger and Kyle Davis 2 points each.
LMS 38 Rowan Co. 33 8th Grade
Also on Saturday Afternoon the Dawgs 8th Grade team seeded #2 played the Host team and came away with Victory.
LMS placed three players in Double Figures led by Tyler Maynard with 13 points, Jared Wellman with 12 points, Alex Ratliff with 10 points and Chase Sartin chipped in with 3 points.
LMS 52 Russell 30 7th Grade
On Monday Night in the Semifinals it was the Dawgs all over Russell and moving on to the Championship Game.
Cody Maynard led in scoring with 17 points, Trenton Adkins had 13 points, Jared Wellman with 12 points, Baden Gillispie with 8 points, and Brandon Davis chipped in with 2 points.
LMS 66 Boyd Co. 40 8th Grade
On Tuesday Night in the Semifinals it was a tight game as the two teams were tied at 21 going into halftime.
The Dawgs came out on fire in the second half to put away Boyd Co. and move to the Championship Game. Jared Wellman had 16 points, Chase Sartin and Corbin Fairchild with 15 each, Tyler Maynard had 8 points, Alex Ratliff, Jackson Feltner, and Cody Maynard with 4 each.
Both Championship Games will be held at Rowan Co. Middle School on Thursday Night. 7th Grade Dawgs will play Boyd Co. at 6:30 and 8th Grade Dawgs will play Ashland right after.
