JANUARY 23, 2016
UPDATE: SATURDAY MORNING, JAN. 23, 2016 — Just spoke with NWS and they are predicting another 3-7 inches for the county from 9:30 tonight until the system pulls away tomorrow afternoon or evening. This will be lighter snow than we saw today so we should be able to deal with it a bit better. They said we would be closer to the 4-5 range in the Louisa area.
We will be continuing the Level 3 Snow Emergency until at least 5 PM this evening. We will re-evaluate the situation this afternoon to determine if it will be extended to lowered back to a Level 2.
UPGATE: 3:39 PM, FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 2016) Due to the current road conditions across the county and continued forecast of additional heavy snow we will be moving to a Level 3 Snow Emergency at 5 PM for all Lawrence County roadways only.
This DOES NOT APPLY TO KYTC District 12 roadways. However we STRONGLY recommend that you stay off those roadways as well.
Give the crews time and room to make improvements to these roads.
SNOW EMERGENCY LEVEL THREE: Conditions: All roadways are restricted to emergency personnel use only for travel to work, for delivery of medical supplies, medical treatment and snow removal operations.

LOUISA, Ky. — In preparation for the incoming storm Lawrence County has declared a state of emergency effective immediately. We will be working with our city, county and state partners and emergency responders to respond to the impacts of this storm as efficiently as possible.
At last count we were one of eight counties in the state to already declare in advance of the storm. We ask that everyone avoid travel until after the road crews have time to at least improve the roadways. We will likely be issuing a snow emergency sometime early in the morning for the entire county.
Here is an explanation of each snow emergency level:

Advisory: Cautious driving is advised.
SNOW EMERGENCY LEVEL TWO: Conditions: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and roadways may be icy.
Advisory: Only motorists whose travel is necessary should be on the roadways. Residents are urged to contact their employer to see if they should report to work.
SNOW EMERGENCY LEVEL THREE: Conditions: All roadways are restricted to emergency personnel use only for travel to work, for delivery of medical supplies, medical treatment and snow removal operations.
Advisory: Essential travel only is advised. Violators are subject to prosecution. Residents are strongly urged to contact their employer concerning work schedules.
