LC wins three on the road, loses to ‘tough’ Wayne squad at home
Lawrence Co. Basketball logged a bunch of miles and spent a lot of time on the bus last week but it was all worth it as the Lady Dawgs picked up three wins on the road.
LC came back home last night to face a really good Wayne, W. Va team and fell for the second time this year to the Lady Pioneers 68-38.
The Lady Dawgs are 8-11 on the season.
Lawrence Co. 54 Elliott Co. 30
Sandy Hook, Ky — On Wednesday Night the Lady Dawgs hit the road and came away with a victory over Elliott Co. This was the second victory for LC vs Elliott Co. The two teams met back in November when the Lady Lions were missing a key starter.
LC had three players in double figures as Kendra Spaulding was the leading scorer with 16 points, Kassidy Cavins had 12 points, and Alexis Ratliff had 10, Kara Williamson had 6 points, Kelly Davis had 5 points, Kylie Maynard had 4 points and Layken Chapman had 1 point.
The Lady Dawgs went 16-26 from the free throw line.
Lawrence Co. 58 Phelps 32
Phelps, Ky — On Friday night the Lady Dawgs made the long trip for a 60th District game and came away with a nice victory over the Lady Hornets. LC placed three players in double figures as Kara Williamson had 17 points, Kassidy Cavins and Kendra Spaulding had 12 points each, Layken Chapman 9 points, Alexis Ratliff 7 points, and Kelly Davis 1 point.
The Lady Dawgs hit 2 three pointers and went 14-25 from the foul line.
Lawrence Co. 42 Wolfe Co. 41
Compton, Ky — Lawrence Co. made the long trip up the Mountain Parkway after not getting home from Phelps until midnight and back on the bus for a noon time game. The Lady Dawgs fell behind early but finally got it together to pull out a one point victory.
Alexis Ratliff led LC with 14 points, Kara Williamson had 11 points, Layken Chapman 9 points, Kassidy Cavins 4 points, Kendra Spaulding and Kelly Davis 2 points.
Lawrence Co. went 5-9 from the free throw line and hit 3 three’s in the game.
Wayne, W. Va 68 Lawrence Co. 38
Louisa, Ky — The Lady Dawgs came back home on Monday Night to play a very good Wayne team for the second time this year and was in the game until about 2 minutes to go before half and Wayne started making three pointer after three pointer as the Lady Pioneers hit 10 in the game to put the Lady Dawgs away.
LC didn’t help themselves at the free three line going 12-26 on the night. Kara Williamson had 11 points, Kendra Spaulding 7 points, Shelby Skeens and Kylie Maynard had 5 each, Layken Chapman had 3 points, Alexis Ratliff and Kassidy Cavins had 2 each.
LC made 2 three pointers on the night.
Lawrence Co. will be back on the road tonight at Pike Co. Central and then Friday Night at June Buchanan.
