MAY HAVE BEEN RETALIATION FOR PREVIOUS THEFT CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY OVERCHARGING FOR CREDIT CARD TIPS; HAS NOW COMPILED CRIMINAL RECORD
A Louisa man who formerly worked at a local restaurant as a waiter remains lodged in jail after police say he broke into the business and stole the cash register.
According to a report by Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt, on December 28, 2015 at 0123 a.m. the Louisa Police Department responded to the report of a break in at the Milano’s Restaurant.
During the course of the investigation it was determined that a front window of the business had been busted out with a rock and that a cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
Based upon the information and evidence collected, officer Hunter James began looking for the suspect, 20 year old Eric Tyler Ward of Louisa, a former employee of Milano’s.
Officer James located the suspect at Speedway where he had in his possession evidence from the scene. After reading Miranda rights to Eric Ward, Mr. Ward confessed to the crimes that he had committed.
Officer James arrested Mr. Ward charging him with Burglary 3rd, Theft by Unlawful taking over $500 and Criminal Mischief 2nd. Eric T. Ward was lodged into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Patrolman Hunter James was assisted by Sergeant Steven Wilburn and Patrolman Jordan Miller.
Chief Fugitt also further stated that Eric Ward was also charged with theft on December 21 after he was discovered adding his own amounts to peoples credit card slips for his tips while working at Milano’s.
A mystery has also developed involving Eric Ward, as records at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center also show that Ward was charged with the misdemeanor Assault 4th Degree (Minor Injury) at time of Ward’s arrest December 28.
Chief Fugitt said that on December 27, 2015 at 10:53 pm Officer James responded to the report of an assault at the Budget Inn of Louisa. Manager of the motel stated that he had asked Eric Tyler Ward to leave the motel when Mr. Ward began assaulting him causing minor injury. Officer James was actively searching for the suspect when he received the call that the Milano’s Restaurant had been broken into.
While Eric Tyler Ward is only 20 years old, he has compiled a criminal record in the last two years since turning eighteen. He has been arrested twice this month; three times since late October, four times in 2015; and a total of nine arrests in Kentucky since January 2014.
