LOUISA POLICE USE K9 UNIT, HAZMAT IN DRUG ARREST
On December 21, 2015 the Louisa Police Department responded to the complaint of a shoplifter at the Rite-Aid store.
Managers of the store advised that a male subject identified as Justin Harless, 27 of Louisa, had stolen some cold packs and left in a gray Mercury Sable. Sgt. Ed Cordle was able to locate the vehicle leaving the store. Cordle stopped the vehicle behind the Best Hardware of Louisa.
During his traffic stop it was discovered that the subject did have the stolen items. Also several other items to manufacture methamphetamine were discovered when Ptl. Jordan Miller and K9 Kenya were called to the scene and Kenya alerted on the vehicle.
Passenger in the vehicle, Melissa Thompson, 40 of Louisa, was also arrested when found in her purse was several controlled substances. Ptl. Hunter James, who is equipped with Hazmat equipment, was called to the scene to collect the evidence.
Both subjects were lodged into the Big Sandy Regional Jail. Case will be presented to the Lawrence County Grand Jury.
