Summit, Ky. — In the last game of the Boyd Co. Shootout Saturday night it was Lawrence Co. ( 3-0 ) remaining perfect on the year with a 83-74 victory over Boyd Co. ( 2-3 ). Both teams had played the night before but you couldn’t tell that by the way the game was played.
It was a fast paced game with both teams pressing and really getting after each other.
The Dawgs put the game away with timely free throw shooting by hitting 13-15 down the stretch. LC lead 35-31 at halftime and the two teams were tied 50-50 going into the 4th quarter.
Lawrence Co. placed four players in double figures on the night.
Timmy Dalton led the Dawgs with 22 points followed by Austin Chaffins with 20, Brandon Richardson had 15, Robert Dalton had 14, Grant Kiser hit two three pointers and ended up with 6 points and Shawn Moore came off the bench and rounded out the scoring with 4 points.
Bobby Anderson (son of Boyd Co. coach and former Lawrence Co. coach Randy Anderson) led Boyd Co. with 34 points on the night.
The Dawgs will get a few days off before they play seven games in seven days beginning with Lewis Co. at home Thursday Dec. 17th. Boyd Co. will play South Laurel on Saturday Dec. 19th.
Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis York:
” …Great energy to start the game after waiting all day to play. Kids played so hard, we fought some adversity at the end but came away with the win.” Our kids are battle tested three games into the season.” Stepped up big down the stretch and hit Free Throws and closed the deal, unlike vs June Buchanan.”
Lawrence Co. Guard Robert Dalton
” …Always a challenge guarding Bobby Anderson, he is a great player and a smart player. I’m looking to go coast to coast off a rebound to catch the defense slow getting back, if they stop me I’m kicking it to an open teammate.”
