1947 – 2015
Joe Wayne Compton, 68, born June 5, 1947, the son of Louise Branham Compton and the late Wayne Scott Compton. Husband for nearly 45 years to Carol Ann Jones Compton, left his earthly body December 9, 2015 and is present with his Lord, Jesus Christ.
He is loved and his presence missed by his sister, Janice Lee Compton Cornwell (Randall), his children: Joe Wayne Compton II (Friederike) of Berlin Germany, Elizabeth Louise Compton of Louisa, Phillip Ross Compton of Lexington, his grandchildren, Marlene Sophie Compton, Charlotte Isabelle Compton, and Phillip Scott Compton, all of Berlin, Germany.
Joe was a member of the Lawrence County High School Class of 1965 and a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Business and Economics. He retired from the Louisa Water Company as superintendent-operator. He was a member of the Gideon’s helping spread God’s word. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisa, currently serving as chairman of deacons and Sunday School Teaching assistant. He was a ham radio operator, call sign KJ4LVY. He enjoyed woodworking, watching football and basketball, singing in the choir and studying the Bible and history.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, December 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Louisa with Pastor Chuck Price officiating. Burial will follow at the Cyrus Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00 til 9:00 PM Saturday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.
