DECEMBER 8, 2015
JROTC students at the Lawrence County High School, who are also members of the Wyman Teen Outreach program (TOP), have dedicated their time and energy to raise funds for a Lawrence County Civil War Memorial.
This memorial commemorates the fallen soldiers from both sides of the conflict. This is an ambitious and meaningful undertaking. These fine young men and women want to leave a lasting legacy that demonstrates civic pride and the need to connect with their county’s historic past. The Memorial will benefit all the residents of Lawrence County.
Mike and Chris Wilson from Wilson’s Funeral Home will be involved in the design and construction of the Memorial. Incentive gifts are being offered to those who donate to the project. A major fundraising campaign for the memorial is currently underway. The first item being offered is a stunning Christmas Ornament in blue and gray with a silhouette of a Civil War soldier posed in silent tribute to his fallen comrades. Each ornament comes packaged in a decorative box. This ornament would make a special statement on your Christmas tree. It also makes a one-of-a kind gift.
The ornaments are available for a $10 donation. The sale of the ornaments began during the Lawrence County Middle School Christmas Bazaar on December 3. If you wish to purchase one, they are currently available at the Lawrence County Health Department and the Lawrence County Public Library.
We encourage you to support this worthwhile project.
