REBS TO FACE MINGO CENTRAL IN STATE SEMIFINALS AT HOME
Fort Gay, W. Va. In a rematch of a lopsided Tolsia ( 11-1 ) Regular Season victory it was all Rebel defense in this one as the ” Orange Crush ” swarmed to the football all game long in a 54-0 win over Herbert Hoover ( 8-4 ) in front of a jam packed crowd at Wilt Salmons Athletic Complex.
The Tolsia defense only allowed 173 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers. Brian Campbell led the way with 8 tackles and 1 interception, Jacob Maynard 7 tackles and 1 fumble recovery, Luke Presley 6 tackles and Wayne Williamson 5 tackles. Logan Presley also had 1 interception. Seth McMillion and Luke Presley led the offense with 5 touchdowns on the ground, Presley had scores of 76, 61, and 8 yards. McMillion from 1 and 8 yards. Jennings Holland , Logan Presley and Jonathan Johnson also had 1 touchdown apiece. Jacob Maynard kicked 2 PAT’s.
Tolsia will move on to the Semifinals of the playoffs for the second time in school history and for the first time it will be at Home vs Mingo Central Friday. The Rebels defeated MC 44-41 at Wilt Salmons Athletic Complex on Sept 4th.
The winner will move on to the WVSSAC State Championship at Wheeling Island Stadium vs Bridgeport/Fairmont Senior winner on December 4th.
The last time Tolsia was in the Semifinals in 2006 they traveled to James Monroe and came away with a 7-6 win and moved on to the State Championship game.
