Porter scores 21 in Marshall debut
Louisa’s own Taylor Porter aka ‘TP’ tore up the court and was loudly HERD in her first Women’s Basketball game for Marshall University on November 4rd against KCU.
Taylor had dreams of attending Marshall University directly after high school but instead signed with Murray State University. She didn’t like it at Murray and after her transfer later to Marshall she had to sit one year out.
On November 4th her wait was up and she came out hot, leading her team in scoring with a whooping 21 points.
Earlier that day Taylor tweeted, “I’ve waited all my life to put on a Marshall jersey, don’t expect me to give you anything easy.” She kept her promise and came out swinging.
Head Coach Matt Daniel said in a post game conference, “we have a group of girls you want to help win, not show up after they’ve been winning and we were led in scoring by a newcomer.”
“Let’s get the community behind these girls”.
A beast on the court and a beauty off, Taylor is majoring in Biology and commands others to take notice. She is more than a great basketball player, more than another pretty face, she’s tenacious, hardworking and dedicated making her a lethal package.
“Schools good, biology major and basketball sure ain’t easy but it’s worth it,“ said Taylor. “Growing up I was small, I learned to get tough. I never let being a girl stop me from trying anything.“
Taylor encourages all girls to go after their dreams.
The Thundering Herd will take the court again November 15th for “Pack the House” the Women’s team will play at 1:00pm with the men’s game directly after.
