Tomahawk couple accused of endangering kids at Jenny Wiley Festival
A couple from the Martin County Tomahawk community faced arraignment Wednesday on charges of public intoxication and endangering the welfare of their children at the Jenny Wiley Festival.
According to their arrest citations, Jeff Daniel, 41, and Brittany Daniel, 26, are accused of being “manifestly intoxicated” in the municipal parking lot on the night of Saturday, Oct. 10. They were “so intoxicated they did not know what city or county they were in or where they had parked their vehicle,” court documents said.
When their four small children were turned over to the care of the Prestonsburg Fire Department and evaluated by paramedics, the report said that the two who were in strollers were “soaking wet, shivering, and wearing diapers that were full of excrement so much so that it had come through the diaper and clothes and soaked into the stroller cloth.”
The citation said none of the children were found with jackets or blankets, and that an anonymous witness told the responding officer they had seen the mother take a blanket from the youngest child to wrap herself in.
Both Jeff and Brittany Daniel, who each face one count of public intoxication (controlled substance) and endangering the welfare of a minor, entered pleas of not guilty on Wednesday.
Their next appearance in court is scheduled for Jan. 7. (READ ENTIRE STORY HERE)
