Murder Arrest – Greenup County
(Ashland, KY) — The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Greenup County, KY resident after conducting an investigation into a reported shooting.
On Thursday, October 29, 2015 the Kentucky State Police received a report of a shooting at 328 Short Branch Road in Greenup County. Elmer Kazee, age 61, had contacted Greenup County 911 and reported shooting his son, Gregory Shane Kazee, age 41, at their residence.
Troopers responded to the residence and located Gregory Shane Kazee deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. Due to circumstances surrounding the shooting a search warrant was obtained for the residence. During the course of the investigation evidence was obtained, which conflicted with the initial reports received.
Elmer Kazee, age 61, of Greenup, KY was arrested, lodged in the Greenup County Detention
Center and charged with Murder.
The following agencies responded and assisted during the course of the investigation: Greenup County Sheriff’s Department, Greenup County EMS, Greenup County Coroner’s Office and the Boyd County Coroner’s Office.
The case is still under investigation by Detective Daniel Cook.
