Fort Gay, W. Va The Tolsia Football team accomplished something on Friday Night that hadn’t been done in school history as the #2 Rebels ( 8-0 ) won the Cardinal Conference Championship by beating #7 Chapmanville ( 7-2 ) 76-45 at Wilts Salmons Field.
Tolsia also set a record for most points scored in a single game.
The records wouldn’t stop there as Senior Luke Presley broke the single game rushing record that was held by BJ Evans by amassing 369 yards on 25 carries. Presley also scored five touchdowns on the record breaking night.
“Seen a lot of good blocking tonight by the O- line, fullback and power back, that makes my job easier. Our QB also does a great job of reading the defense and making us go,” Luke Presley said. “We have things to fix on defense and we will get back to work on Monday but this was a great win. I’ve heard a lot about Jim Pertee and watched BJ Evans, and I’m honored to be mentioned with them.” Presley said.
Seth McMillion and Jennings Holland both chipped in with 100 yards apiece and combined for five touchdowns. Holland also kicked four extra points for the winners.
Brian Campbell came up with a huge interception right before halftime.
Tolsia will be back in action next Friday when they travel to Boyd County, Ky ( 3-6 ) and then at Home on Senior Night Nov 6th vs Poca. Chapmanville will travel to Wayne to finish out the regular season.
At Halftime The 1965 Class A State Football Champions from Crum was honored and introduced.

COACH’S COMMENT:
“WOW, Cardinal Conference Champions! What can you say about these kids, at the beginning of the season I knew we had a shot to be pretty good but these kids keep getting better,” Tolsia Head Coach Mike Smith said. “Chapmanville had a good scheme on offense they put the QB eight yards deep and it is tough to get to him but our defense made enough plays.”
“On offense we lined up and did whatever we wanted because of our line and backs,” Smith said. “We knew Luke was close to the record and as hard as he works and plays he deserved it, if he isn’t in the conversation for the Kennedy Award something is wrong with the state of West Virginia, if their is a better player I want to see him,” Smith said
