Fallsburg Haunted House Breaks Attendance Record
October is popular for a number of reasons, cooler weather, beautiful fall foliage, football, and haunted houses to name a few. Lawrence County is known to bleed red and black for our Dawgs but on the weekend of October 10th The Fallsburg Fearplex stole the spotlight.
Since the first weekend of October was not ideal conditions to attend an outdoor attraction, when the crisp air arrived last weekend it brought the customers with it. Route 3 was aglow Saturday night as traffic poured into the parking area. Headlights wrapped around the curves as far as you could see.
The Fallsburg Country side sets the stage perfectly for eerie ghost stories and paranormal activity. Tourist and locals alike chatted excitedly as they waited their turn to navigate through The Corn Maze and dash through Crazy Creek. Screams were echoing off the hillsides from every direction, preceded by the rip of a chainsaw starting up.
Jamie Gilliam of Louisa said “ The Corn Maze and Crazy Creek are my favorite, they get better each year. Next year I will bring extra undies!”
Once Crazy Creek was in the distance we proceeded to the Haunted House where the actor and actresses were on point in a number of gruesome scenes.
Zombie Paintball is sold as a separate attraction and would be great for younger children who are not yet ready for all of the terror that awaits them.
Ashley Patton is a 5 year patron the Fear Plex said, “We loved all of the attractions!!! Looking forward to going again”
For the claustrophobics or those afraid of the dark Backwoods Black Out, will absolutely send you into near panic mode. It is a pitch black maze, you must navigate without the help of any sort of guide. Here is a helpful hint, don’t touch the walls.
Brian Cassidy owner of the 100 acre farm that the Fear Plex sits on was a busy man making sure everyone of the record breaking 2,700 customers that came left satisfied stating, “Our customers make this haunt. Year after year they travel great distances to check out what is new and exciting. I’ve never experienced a customer base so supportive of the cause. Their interest makes us want to be better.”
The Fearplex will be up and running each weekend until the end of October. It is truly a unique experience, totally worth the wait, a great family tradition.
