The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2014 – 15 was 52.0 cents on real property and 52.0 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $3,728,247. The proposed General Fund tax rate of 52.0 cents on real property and 52.0 cents on personal property is expected to produce $3,968,340 for 2015 – 16. Of this amount $997,565 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax rate for 2015-16 is 50.0 cents on real property and 50.0 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $3,815,711.

There was no public comment offered regarding the tax levy, so the hearing was adjourned and then the actual special Board of Education meeting commenced.
Superintendent Dr. Robbie Fletcher informed the Board of the progress of School & Community Days, wherein personnel from Central Office and District administration come together with staff, students and community members from each school on a designated day and discuss issue and concerns related to the specific school.
Dr. Fletcher highlighted real improvements that have been made as a result of information gleaned in various School & Community Days including: installation of buzz-in systems at each school, passes for retired employees, lighting in the high school parking lot, and others.
Additionally, the Board approved the tax levy referenced earlier, approved the working 2015-16 budget and discussed bus purchasing/leasing and personnel.
Due to the increase in revenue from the increase in property value, the Board unanimously voted to lease three new buses and discussed a plan to replace buses on a yearly basis.
The meeting adjourned without any comment from members of the public present.
