OCTOBER 8, 2015
The Lawrence County Humane Society has a variety of upcoming fundraisers approaching and is asking for community support in order for them to succeed. As previously reported, the shelter is in serious need as their vet bill is currently at $10,000 and must be paid. This bill was incurred by being sure that every animal is spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption or rescue.
To help raise money, on October 10th volunteers will be set up at Blaine’s Autumn Fest offering pony rides for children along with raffles. Tickets may be purchased for a chance to win a free dog grooming session from MB Grooming for only $1 each.
A vacation to Gatlinburg, Tennessee is also up for grabs. The vacation to Severville, Tennessee, just outside of Gatlinburg, will feature a stay in a three bedroom condo for October 29th-November 1st. Tickets are $5 each.
Volunteers are also selling Knickerbocker pictures. The pictures will be taken on October 30th at the Point of Hope Community Center. For only $10 customers will receive an 8×10, two 5×7’s, 8 wallets and 32 petite wallets. Certificates must be purchased in advance. For more information or to purchase, contact Kaitlin Lawson at 606-652-3652.
There are also plenty of other ways to help, according to volunteers. Monetary donations are always welcome and can be sent to PO Box 1331 Louisa, KY 41230. The shelter is also in need of cleaning supplies such as bleach, trash bags and paper towels along with puppy and kitten feed and cat litter.
