Lawrence Co. Youth League took to the road this past Saturday when they faced the Tolsia Rebels. There was no B-Team game because Tolsia does not have a B-Team.
D-TEAM GAME
LC 20, Tolsia 0
Fort Gay, W. Va. — In the ‘D’ team game both defenses played really well until the Dawgs wore down the young Rebels in the 4th quarter and came away with a 20-0 victory.
Late in the 1st quarter the Dawgs defense came up big when they forced a Tolsia fumble that was recovered by Boedy Maynard for LC and was immediately turned into points when Kaden Thompson scored from 25 yards out on a touchdown run to give LC a 6-0 lead.
Tolsia couldn’t get much going on offense but the defense kept them in the game led by Luke Fetherolf and Blayne Cook. The game was still 6-0 when LC got some breathing room thanks to Wyatt Branham who took a handoff on 2nd and 23 and raced into the endzone from 37 yards out and the Dawgs led 12-0.
After Tolsia couldn’t convert a 4th down Lawrence Co. put the game away when Ty Brooks found paydirt from 26 yards out and QB Braxton Davis hit Brady Nelson for the two point conversion and set the final score at 20-0.
COACH’S COMMENTS;
” Defense played really well today, moved some guys around and it worked well,” LC ‘D’ team Head Coach BJ Nelson said. “Aiden Morris and Harlon Perkins was in the Tolsia backfield all day. We caused some turnovers, but we have to clean up the penalties before next week at Buffalo. Proud of our team.”
C-TEAM GAME
LC 30, Tolsia 0
In the ‘C’ team game Lawrence Co. came out on top 30-0 over the Tolsia Rebels. Will McDavid got LC going in the 1st quarter when he bulled in from 6 yards out and Russell Lemaster punched in the two point conversion for a 8-0 lead for the Dawgs.
LC had the Rebels pinned deep in their own territory when Hunter Crawford pounced on a fumble in the Rebels’ endzone for a Lawrence Co. touchdown and Will McDavid added the two points for a 16-0 lead.
After a Rebel turnover the Dawgs Avery Jenks scored on a 4 yard touchdown and Talon Pollack ran in the two point conversion for a 24-0 lead. The defense from LC was very good forcing punts and turnovers. Will McDavid scored from 5 yards out and the Dawgs cruised in the 4th quarter for a 30-0 Victory.
Lawrence Co. will return to action this Sunday at Buffalo, games start at 1:00 pm. Games are on Sunday this week because the TSYFL Cheerleading Competition is on Saturday.
