Lawrence Co. Youth League battles C-K
LC 44, CK 16
Louisa, Ky Lawrence Co. “C” team was looking for that first win on Saturday and boy did they come to play. The Little Dawgs rolled to a 44-16 victory over Ceredo-Kenova.
LC racked up over 300 yards rushing on the day. Avery Jenks put the Dawgs on the board first with a 35 yard touchdown run and Will McDavid added the two point conversion for a 8-0 lead. The Wonders came right back when Dylan Robertson found Ethan Null on a 65 yard touchdown pass and Null added the two point conversion to tie the score at 8-8.
Seth Shapaka gave the LC the lead for good when he found pay dirt from 42 yards out and McDavid added the two points and LC lead 16-8. Russell Lemaster for in on the action and extended the Dawgs lead when he had a 51 yard touchdown run to put Lawrence Co. up 22-8, right before halftime.
Jenks scored his second touchdown on a 26 yard run and QB Talon Pollack added the two points for a 30-8 halftime lead. Shapaka added a 70 yard touchdown his second of the day, and Jenks added his third, a 25 yard touchdown run to give the Dawgs a 44-8 lead. Null scored once again for C-K and got the two points to set the final score of 44-16 in favor of Lawrence Co.
” Great win for our team, Finally played a complete game, been a struggle for us all year.” Lawrence Co. ‘C’ team head coach James Fairchild said. Still have a lot of football left and plenty of things we can work on.” Made a few changes but nothing major.”
CK 16, LC 12
In the ‘D’ team game Lawrence Co. Came out on the first drive of the game and marched it right down the field and Sam Lefever scored on a 13 yard touchdown run to give the Dawgs a 6-0 lead. It stayed that way until Will Mclure scored on a 22 yard touchdown run and then added the two points for a 8-6 lead for C-K.
Brae Booth scored from 5 yards out and got the two points to give the Wonders a 16-6 lead. Ty Brooks finished off the scoring as he had a 35 yard touchdown run as time expired for the Dawgs and they fell 16-12
CK 20, LC 0
In the ‘B’ team game Lawrence Co. controlled the 1st quarter as they took the ball inside the 15 yard line but couldn’t get any closer. C-K got the ball back and chewed up the yards and the clock playing keep away from the potent Lawrence Co. offense and came away with a 22-0 victory over the Dawgs. Jace Caldwell scored on a 15 yard touchdown and Zac Watts added two scores for the Wonders.
Lawrence Co. ‘D’ and ‘C’ teams will be in action this Saturday as they travel to Tolsia and play the Rebels at Tolsia High School, games will begin at 10:00 am.
