Annual Awards Banquet
Bill Jackson
The annual Eagle Ridge Golf League banquet was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. The 2015 season was difficult with all the weather cancelations. After member debate, the season was extended by four weeks to equate with an entire season of play. It was both a time of celebration and regret; celebration for the winners and disappointment for all that the season has ended. This means that we will not be seeing many of our friends until next spring. Playing in the league brings everyone together in a time of competitiveness, friendship, and tall tales; a time that will be missed by all.
Interestingly, the four-week season extension ended with the first three places the same as before the additional play.
The winning of the league along with the players that were superior in separate parts of their games are listed below. If you look closely, my name will only appear as the author of this report. It would seem, if one were to think, the person who does the compilation of scores and skills, would find himself listed someplace in the awards. Unfortunately, since I didn’t appear in any of the awards, I must excel only in score keeping.
The Trophy Recipients are as follows:
League Champion J. Lynn See
2nd PlaceDrew Waller
3rd PlaceJoe Stepp
Net Score (League Record) Vince Swinney (26)

This is the final report that will appear in the Lazer this year. The League appreciates the weekly coverage the Lazer gives to the league.
I would ask that all golfers enter into league play, regardless of their skill level or their age. Compensations are made in teeing areas, and the handicaps make everyone equal. There was only 4-points difference between 6th place and 1st place. This equates to winning a match and losing a match; one good day or one bad day can make a difference. For instance, on the final day of play, Joey Stepp, Ronnie Wellman and I played in the second group. Ronnie and I tied; Joey won and claimed third place. In the final group, consisting of J. Lynn See, Drew Waller, and Clyde Adkins, had Clyde won and J. Lynn and Drew tied, the result would have been a three-way tie for the championship. It is great fun and an opportunity to spend time with others you would never see.
League applications are at the pro shop. Stop by, fill out your application, and pay the $25 league fee. All monies are returned in prizes and include a free banquet dinner.
I wish each and every one of you a great Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
Until next year,
Bill Jackson
