Tractor Trailer Truck Accident On Route 32 Leaves Two Lawrence County Brothers With Critical Injuries
Driver suffered life-threatening injuries, and his brother who was the passenger both flown to Huntington hospital
A tractor trailer accident Tuesday afternoon left two Lawrence County brothers with very serious injuries that required both men to be simultaneously flown to West Virginia for emergency surgeries.
Just after 2 P.M. Tuesday afternoon, the Louisa Fire Department and Netcare EMS responding to a one vehicle motor vehicle accident 911 report at the intersection conjuncture of KY 32 and KY 1760; and located one truck over the hill with both occupants in entrapment of the truck.
Once on scene, the situation took an even more urgent tone when fire and emergency officials discovered that the large truck that both brothers were trapped in was leaking fuel, creating the risk of an imminent explosion fire scenario.
The Louisa Fire Department had to hastily begin to free the victims from the truck before there was fire, though the seriousness of the mangled wreckage of the truck cab caused the extraction process of both men to take longer that was desired. Both men were finally retrieved after a extensive recovery and they were both transported by ground by Netcare EMS vehicles to a landing zone on KY 3215, where both men were flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital by two ambulance helicopters from Healthnet Aeromedical Services out of Charleston, West Virginia.
While the identities of both men were not officially released; on social media, two women identified themselves and stated that both men were family members.
Debbie Hamilton Lester stated that the driver of the truck, who was also the owner, was her father. She stated that he was is in critical condition, but stable, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.. She also stated that his brother, her uncle, who the passenger with him in the accident, was is in surgery at Cabell Huntington but his injuries are not as bad as her father.
A second woman, Tammy Stacy, identified both men as her brother-in-laws and asked for major prayers due to the serious medical conditions of both men’s extensive injuries.
