Lawrence County EMS adopts new mobile app for onsite critical communications
LOUISA, KY August 11th, 2015 – Lawrence County Emergency Management has a powerful new tool to keep residents safe. ECN Launcher is a mobile application emergency management officials recently adopted to initiate CodeRED emergency and community messages to residents directly from their smartphone or tablet.
The app gives Lawrence County Emergency Management the ability to send critical messages in seconds, without having to be at the emergency operations center or in the office to access a desktop or laptop computer. Authorized officials at Lawrence County Emergency Management were recently trained on the new technology and now have the ability to deliver geographic or group-based messages on their mobile devices.
“ECN Launcher puts the power of the CodeRED system right at our fingertips. This is the perfect tool for us to use out in the field to immediately notify residents in the affected area,” Director Michael Woods said.
Lawrence County Emergency Management encourages all residents to enroll to receive emergency alerts through CodeRED. Those who have already enrolled to receive CodeRED notifications but have recently moved or changed telephone numbers are encouraged to visit the Lawrence County Emergency Management website at http://www.lawcokyem.org/LCEM/Emergency_Notifications.html and click on the CodeRED logo to update their contact information.
In addition to receiving CodeRED alerts through voice, text messages and emails, residents can also download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app on the App Store and Google Play. The app will send free push notifications of emergency, community and missing person alerts to mobile subscribers within a warning area. Lawrence County Emergency Management as well as public safety officials throughout North America initiate alerts.
