LC BACK ON WINNING TRACK
Louisa, Ky — Lawrence Co. ( 2-1 ) shook off last week’s loss to 5A Montgomery Co. and came out this week playing inspired football in a convincing 40-14 victory over Class A Fairview ( 2-1 ) in front of a packed house at Luke Varney Memorial last night.
LC senior Austin Chaffins spearheaded a defense that forced 4 turnovers vs a Fairview offense that came in firing on all cylinders. Chaffin returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown and also tipped a Fairview pass right into the hands of Brandon Richardson in the end zone to stop another drive for the Eagles.
The Dawgs also forced two fumbles. Richardson got the Dawgs on the scoreboard with a 5 yard touchdown run and Grant Kiser added two touchdown runs of 8 and 12 yards as the Dawgs lead 28-0 at Halftime.
Avery Bowman and Cole Mosley added touchdowns runs of 43 and 30 yards respectively to put the game out of reach. Mosley led the Dawgs in rushing with 79 yards, Zack Keesee added 61 yards, Dylan Sizemore 10 yards and Hunter Crum 5 yards. Jarrett Fairchild got playing time at QB as well.
Kiser was 8-14 with 79 yards passing. Chaffin had 1 catch, Richardson 3 catches, Luke Schaeffer 2 catches and Jordan Johnson 2 catches. The Dawgs had over 300 yards of total offense. Senior Kicker Micheal Skaggs was 4-5 on point after attempts.
Lawrence Co. will be back at Home next Friday Night for Homecoming as they take on Powell Co. ( 0-2 ). Fairview will play Maderia, Ohio next Friday on the road.
