SEPTEMBER 4, 2015
Your Society will have an informational booth at Lawrence County Septemberfest next weekend, Sept. 11 and 12. Vicki Moore needs two people per two hour shift for the booth, Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM, and Saturday starting at 10 AM, noon, 2 PM and 4 PM. If you can help, contact Vicki at 606-652-3901 or bhictoria.ni.omordha@gmail.com.
It is not too late to register for the 2015 Eastern Kentucky Genealogy Conference, to be held at the Paintsville Ramada Inn Sept. 18 & 19. You can go the Conference website www.ekygc.org to obtain registration forms.
I also want to inform you of an opportunity in connection with the genealogy conference. On Friday, Sept. 18, at 2 PM, the Johnson County Public Library will present archaeologist Dr. Kary Stackelbeck, who will discuss cemetery preservation in Kentucky and the threats that exist to many cemeteries in the state. The event is free and open to the public.
The library is only a two block walk from the Ramada Inn.
