“Heroes Among us: Remembering 9-11” is theme for this year’s event
This year’s annual street festival begins on September 11th and lastS for 3 days. “Heroes Among us: Remembering 9-11” is the theme around this years festival.
“We are planning a larger than normal opening ceremony in remembrance of that day as well as pay honor to our current public service workers,” according to Harold Slone, festival chairman. “The hour long parade is expected to highlight 9-11 as well.”
Entertainment this includes several local and regional artist from the country music highway.
Corey Kenton from Richmond, Ky , Kyle Douglas from Prestonsburg, KY a rising performer who highlights his music for youngsters to make good decisions about drug abuse in the area, our own Kelsie May, the young Louisa, Ky performer who recently turned 3 chairs on NBC’s The Voice and local performer Bobby Cyrus, who currently operates a music theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN brings his show home to Louisa.
Opening acts include uptown band from Pikeville,KY. Kenny Chaney and Olivia Lynn from Louisa.
First Time Around , Turning Ground , and Hammertowne will bring traditional Bluegrass music to the Main Street Park on Saturday while Five for the Gospel, Cornerstone, John Thornsberry , Risen and Steppin Out on faith highlight a gospel show on Sunday.
The main event this year will be the 7 BRIDGES BAND, paying tribute to the Eagles popular rock band. They are known around the country for being “The Ultimate Eagles Experience”.
Street vendors, carnival rides, games and attractions as well as the annual pageants , bass tournament and 5/10 K run is all slated to be back at this years festival.
