The Lawrence County Public Library is hosting its first geocaching adventure through Lawrence County. The library is placing small plastic pumpkins with GPS coordinates in historically significant locations county wide. Participants will be able to locate the pumpkins using a GPS device or smart phone with GPS capabilities. One lucky searcher will win a Kindle Fire. Tickets for the grand prize and other “treasures” will be hidden with the pumpkins.
An informational event will take place at the library on Thursday, September 10 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. This is a drop-in event and is not mandatory to participate in the search. Coordinates will be released on September 10 as well. Participants have until Saturday October 3 to turn in their tickets and be eligible for the grand prize.
