SUPT. EXPLAINS FALLSBURG PRINCIPAL HIRING TIMELINE:
Mr. Grayson and Ms. Adkins,
As you may know, we are in the process of hiring a new principal for the Fallsburg Elementary School. I have two items that I would like to share with each of you.
First: We are gathering community input into the characteristics that they would like to see in the new principal. We have an online survey available for parents and stakeholders. This gives the parents and stakeholders the opportunity to rate the draft criteria as well as add their own opinions. The surveys can be found on our district and school websites.
Second: We have an unofficial timeline. This timeline is “unofficial” until the minutes of the meeting are approved.
- · August 27th– Principal vacancy was declared
- · August 27th – Principal vacancy was posted
- · August 31st – Initial meeting for principal selection
- · Ongoing – Recruit principal candidates
- · September 2nd – Set up principal selection training, establish council timeline, plan for principal selection process, draft principal selection criteria, and decide information gathering process
- · September 3rd – Principal criteria survey will be available online (Dr. Fletcher will do caller on School Messenger to contact families)
- · September 4th – Dr. Fletcher will hold a face-to-face meeting with 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in classroom of their grade level presenting draft criteria and gathering student input
- · September 8th – Close the online survey
- · September 9th – Face-to-face meeting with parents/teachers/classified staff/community to present draft criteria and gather input (2pm and/or 4pm in Fallsburg Elementary School Library), Council to establish final principal candidate criteria, review applicants and decide when/who to interview
- · September 14th and 15th – Interview candidates, evaluate the candidate using agreed upon selection process and prepare for principal selection meeting
- · September 17th – Select principal and follow up after principal selection meeting
- · September 18th – Complete the hiring process
