16 teams involved in Tri-State League
Louisa, Ky — After losing to Barboursville in the ‘C’ division of the Turf Bowl Championship in 2014 the Lawrence Co. ‘B’ team got off to a rousing start to 2015 looking to get back to Marshall University as they beat Wayne 30-0.
Kaden Gillispie, Trenton Adkins and Dylan Ferguson combined to score all of the points for the Dawgs. Gillispie and Adkins both had well over 100 yards. Adkins had a 91 yard touchdown and Gillispie added a 71 yard touchdown. The defense was outstanding in pitching a shutout. Mason Preston, Riley Rasnake, Brayden Maynard and Will Dillow along with a host of others played well on that side of the ball.
The ‘C’ team game was a Barnburner that came down to the wire with the Pioneers winning 14-8. Wayne took a 8-0 lead but LC bounced back to tie the score on a nifty 18 yard TD run by Cody Crum and Will McDavid barreled in the endzone for the 2 point conversion. Rylen Murdock have Wayne the lead for good when he scored from 13 yards out. The Dawgs mounted one more drive but ran out of time inside the 10 yard line.
The ‘D’ team game started off great for the Dawgs as Ty Brooks took it in from the 18 yard line to give LC the lead. Wayne came right back as Isaac Meddings found Logan Prater for a 22 yard pitch and catch to get the Pioneers on the board. Meddings finished 4-4 with 62 yards passing and 1 TD he also added a 40 TD run. Wayne went on to win 30-6. Fisher Fry added a touchdown for Wayne. Lawrence Co. will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to South Point, Oh. Wayne will also travel to Ohio and take on Chesapeake.

“We have a lot of great kids in our program and it takes some time to mesh.” League President Heath Preston Said. Our D team is getting better every week and I look for big things in the future. “The C team is coming along nicely and we look for them to surprise some teams this year.” Wayne has a great league and we were competitive all day long.”
“Total team effort in the B game Wayne knows what we were doing and we had to make some adjustments. “All of our Running Backs ran hard and played well.” Preston said. Every kid on our team made at least one play today. Our team is so unselfish.”
