BUS ACCIDENT AT SPANKEM BRANCH
A somewhat mysterious bus incident took place in Lawrence County last Friday which resulted in no injuries to the driver, no students were on the bus at the time of the accident.
The photo above was taken by a passerby and The Lazer staff retrieved it from social media soon after it appeared. The Lazer staff has been asking the BOE and Supt. Dr. Robbie Fletcher about the accident, which reportedly was the second similar one for the same driver who said he had “dozed off” after completing his run that day, according to the report posted on Social media.
The BOE is investigating the inclident but has refused to release the name of the driver. The two persons in the photo above have not been identified, either, but the man sitting on the road is believed to be the mystery driver. There is also no police report available from the county sheriff nor the KSP.
Here is the BOE press release:
“…Following the completion of the route on the evening of Friday, August 14, 2015, a Lawrence County school bus was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Spankem Branch in Lawrence County. No students were onboard and there were no reported injuries. School officials are investigating the accident and all appropriate steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the students.”
