Louisa, Ky — The last couple years have been tough on the Lawrence Co. Volleyball team but in 2015 things are looking up.
Head Coach April York is in her second season and is looking to improve on a 4-17 record in 2014. The Lady Dawgs lost to Belfry in the first round of the 60th District Tournament.
York didn’t get the job until late in the preseason last year and that made things tough on her and the players. LC only returns two starters but Junior Captain and Setter, Natalie Rice and Freshman Middle Hitter/Middle Blocker, Aryana Chapman will lead the way for the Volley Dawgs. LC competed in a scrimmage against several teams at Rowan Co. last weekend and played very well, coach York said.
LC will open a busy week tomorrow night (Tuesday) with a home game vs Fairview at 7:00. After that they will travel to Paintsville August 20th and finish up the week playing in the Cardinal Classic at Sheldon Clark on Saturday August 22nd.
COACH’S COMMENTS
“I’m excited about the upcoming year, I really think we will improve our win total from last year and make some noise in the 60th District Tournament.” Head Coach April York said. “I got here late last year and it was a tough transition for all of us. This is finally my team from the beginning and that will help.”
“We lost seven seniors from last year’s team and four starters, so practices have really been intense with everybody having a shot to play. I can’t wait for Tuesday.”
