AUGUST 13, 2015
We know we have the best supporters around and we really need you now!
The County Judge Executive from Greenup County is going to discuss at the next FIVCO meeting on Monday, August 17 tentative plans to establish a regional shelter.
What this means is Greenup, Boyd, Carter, Elliott and Lawrence County could decide to go with this regional shelter and the existing county controlled shelters would close.
What does that mean for us? We are not a county controlled shelter but Lawrence County contracts with us to take their animals. If they should decide to go with a regional shelter they would no longer contract with us to take the animals in Lawrence County thus pulling their monthly funding from us.
If you have been following our page, you know we are already struggling with finances but we are trying to get back on track and making progress. BUT THE WORSE PART? This probably means that a lot of animals will die because there will not be a shelter large enough to accommodate 5 counties and save the animals.
We work very hard to find homes and rescues for the animals in our care and that will stop if a regional shelter is opened.
WE NEED YOU TO CONTACT JOHN OSBORNE, THE LAWRENCE COUNTY JUDGE EXECUTIVE, AND YOUR MAGISTRATES and voice your concern and disagreement with this plan. MAKE YOUR VOICE BE HEARD FOR THE ANIMALS! THEIR LIVES ARE AT STAKE IF THIS HAPPENS!
Mr. Osborne’s phone number at his office is (606) 638-4102 and his email is josborne@lycomonline.com. It would be best to call as we do not know how often emails are checked.
PLEASE SHARE FAR AND WIDE OVER AND OVER! WE CAN’T LET THE ANIMALS DOWN!
