I was so saddened to hear of Phillip Ratliff’s passing. As an educator – either in the classroom or on the football field, he was such a positive presence as a teacher and coach.
Phillip was a proud ambassador on behalf of Lawrence County High School and he never wavered in his support for the school and his fellow LCHS graduates.
Focusing on his career as a coach, he provided a sound and confident role model for his players – and in doing so left an endearing and engaging legacy.
When the lights are turned-on for “football Friday night” at the Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Football Stadium on the campus of Lawrence County High School, I know that Phillip’s spirit will likewise now be shining all across the field from goal line to goal line. Shining like his perpetual smile, always beaming while passing along a well-meaning and well-intended comment or compliment.
Phillip focused on the good and the constructive potential in everyone he met. He well deserves our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for leaving us all better for knowing him.
Respectfully . . .
