Retirements of four TRMC employees honored at reception
A recognition reception was recently held at the hospital to honor the retirement of Brenda Hughes, Karen Sue Matney, Sharon Preece and Betty Slone-Stone, announced Chief Executive Officer Greg A. Kiser, MHA.
Brenda Hughes was a R.N. in the Surgery Department with over 40 years of service and was employed with the hospital since November 17, 1974 to July 04, 2015. Hughes was instrumental in serving as a vital ingredient to the hospital surgery staff in providing and coordinating quality nursing care services with established clinical nursing practices. Hughes was a former interim director of surgery services periodically with the Surgery Department. She was a stellar employee with the unique contributions that she provided to the Surgery team.
Karen Sue Matney served as a Billing and Collections Clerk with over 40 years of service to the Business Office Department with the hospital. She was employed with the hospital since November 21, 1974 to April 14, 2015. Matney was versatile and seasoned employee in providing routine business office services on a daily basis. She was an exemplary employee in performing the billing and collection activities with the hospital payers as well as wanted to execute her duties in a professional and effective manner.
Sharon I. Preece was employed with the Purchasing Department for over 40 years from November 4, 1974 to July 14, 2015. Preece served as the Director of Materials Management upon her retirement from the facility. She served in the capacity of Purchasing Agent/Inventory Control Clerk for a number of years prior to her promotion as Director of Material Management in March 2007. She was instrumental in providing and supervising cost effective patient supplies, control of inventory and equipment needs for the hospital in a proficient and professional manner on a daily basis.
Betty J. Slone-Stone was honored with her dedicated service for over 39 years to the hospital from February 28, 1976 to May 15, 2015. Stone served as the Director of Quality Management & Regulatory Compliance upon her retirement. She was versatile in her services and performed management roles with her functions as a RN, education, employee health, infection control and risk management. Throughout her years of service, Stone was instrumental in executing the various duties and responsibilities with education, employee health, infection control and risk management in an efficient and professional manner.
A host of employees and staff were on hand to recognize Brenda Hughes, Karen Sue Matney, Sharon Preece and Betty Slone-Stone for their noteworthy contributions and to express their gratitude for their distinguished tenure with the hospital. Chief Executive Officer Greg A. Kiser presented the honored retirees with a beautiful plaque, rocking chair and gifts to commemorate their loyal and dedicated service to the hospital. During the reception, numerous hospital employees, staff, families of the recipients and friends extended their appreciation and presented gifts of best wishes to the retirees for a successful and enjoyable future.
Special thanks are in order to Brenda Hughes, Karen Sue Matney, Sharon Preece and Betty Slone-Stone for their distinguished service rendered in the pursuit of the healthcare mission with Three Rivers Medical Center and for making the hospital a better place because of their individual contributions. They will be greatly missed but we wish them the very best for a happy, healthy and successful retirement.
