Louisa, KY — A well known Lawrence County native who has been in the music business for many years has just recently moved back to his hometown and plans to move his theater company here too.
Bobby Cyrus, 43, has been singing since an early age, later writing songs and performing with many well known entertainers, and established his latest venture, Cyrus Family Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN.
Cyrus said he is tired of so much traveling and is “ready to come home,” but wants to bring his company which will be renamed Cyrus Performing Arts to Louisa and begin broadening music opportunities in Lawrence County and eastern KY.
His shows include country, bluegrass and gospel music, some comedy skits, guest performers, and his wife Teddi, originally from Floyd County, KY who began performing with the Kentucky Opry as a teenager.
“There is so much talent in this area, and we want to help promote that” he said.
Cyrus also plans to provide educational opportunities for youth and others interested in music, recording and songwriting. “We want to create something that’s not being done in eastern Kentucky.” By doing so, Cyrus hopes to increase tourism in the area and provide something fun and affordable for locals to do as well.
As to where the shows will be held, Cyrus said he is checking into the possibility of restoring the old Garden Theater in downtown Louisa. “It would be a good boost for downtown” he said, also mentioning the historical aspect of the theater. (SEE MORE ON VIDEO)

Cyrus will meet with the Lawrence County Tourism Commission Monday to discuss other plans and how he can assist in promoting local businesses in conjunction with his theater. He will also be performing at Septemberfest which will be held Sept. 11-13.
