A Kentucky truck driver from London has been charged in the deaths of six people on I-75 near Chattanooga in June.
A grand jury indicted Benjamin Brewer, 39, on six counts of vehicular homicide for a wreck that occurred on June 25. Four adults and two children died.
The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report that said Brewer, a driver for Cool Runnings Express, had been on duty about 50 straight hours in the three days leading up to the wreck.
According to federal regulations, truck drivers are supposed to be on duty for a maximum of 14 straight hours.
The tractor-trailer Brewer was driving reportedly struck seven vehicles in the accident.
