This summer the LCPL hosted its first ever Student Internship Program. Thirteen interns ages 13-18 provided over 250 service hours throughout the summer. The interns were Lawrence County students and completed an application process to be accepted into the program. Job duties ranged from shelving books to assisting with the summer reading program. Certificates and letters of recognition were given to each student to be used for scholarship or college applications. The program was coordinated by LCPL Children’s Librarian, Deanna Farris.
The internship program will be ongoing each summer. Applications for next summer will post on the library’s website in early spring 2016.
