BLAINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Ready Fest, Basketball Camp & Hoops League coming soon!
With the start of school only a little over two weeks away, preparations are well underway at Blaine Elementary to get things off to a great start.
The annual Ready Fest will be held Friday, July 31. Parents and students are invited to arrive at 11am for classroom meetings with teachers. This year, participants MUST visit the classroom and meet the teacher where they will receive a card that will permit them access to Ready Fest which is from 12-2pm.
Ready Fest is an annual event hosted by the Family Resource Center that invites businesses and organizations to come and bring various school supplies students receive free of charge.
The first basketball camp ever for the school is also being planned as a fundraiser for the BES Hoops organization. Hoops is an intramural league open to all ages that began in Spring 2012.
“To be on a team is a great experience that many Blaine kids weren’t able to experience before Hoops began,” said Coach Lea Anna Preece. “I will continue doing the league as long as there are volunteers and students interested in helping.
The camp, which is open to all ages and area children, regardless of where they attend school, will be held July 27, 28 and 29 from 5-7pm in the BES gym.. Participants will receive ball handling and shooting instruction to better their fundamental understanding of basketball. Participants will be charged $5 per day
Regular Hoops season will be held August 14 through September 25. Cost is $25 per player. Registration will be held during ready fest and the basketball camp.
