One of two stores licensed to sell liquor now has aisles stocked
One of two stores in Louisa, KY that were issued liquor licenses after the town was voted ‘wet’ seven months ago stocked it’s shelves Thursday, July 16, and the first sales of the hard stuff began.
Beer stores have cropped up in several locations in the city and two restaurants are now offering drinks with meals.
Rite Aid had already been selling beer and was one of only two stores that received liquor licenses, due to the town’s population.
The other store that was issued a liquor license was Food City, but because of the license requirements for grocery stores, which requires a separate entrance has to be provided for liquor sales.
Food City is still in the process of completing that requirement by utilizing the adjacent building, formerly Dollar Discount. It is expected to be completed in the next couple of weeks, and will be selling liquor and wine as well.
Rite Aid now has one entire aisle stocked on one side with various liquors and the other side with a wide variety of wine. Sales have just begun, but on Friday afternoon, July 17, the isle was quite crowded.
