CELEBRATE RECOVERY TAKING OFF AT LFB
Louisa, KY — First Baptist Church in Louisa, KY now offers ‘Celebrate Recovery’ on Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
Celebrate Recovery is a “Christ Centered program that gives people the resources and relationships to help recover from life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups,” Edsel Perry states who has been in the group since its beginning. Edsel also said, “It has opened my eyes to show me that I realize everybody needs Jesus and it made me not refer to “Those People” any more. It’s helped me to step out and deal with my own issues.”
Edsel along with Lynette Miller, the leader of Celebrate Recovery at First Baptist began meeting approximately one year ago and actually went through the material for eight months before offering it to others. Lynette stated she had been attending a group in Paintsville, Kentucky and enjoyed it. She said she felt that it was needed in her own church and community. She talked to the Pastor at First Baptist Church, Chuck Price and he told her to get a group together. From there Celebrate Recovery blossomed.
First Baptist Church began offering Celebrate Recovery to the Community the first Monday of June and have completed five weeks. Lynette states, they begin with Worship, Prayer and testimonies and then split into male and female groups.
Right now the groups offered are Addiction and Co-Dependency. Lynette states she wants everyone to know you don’t have to have an addiction to come to Celebrate Recovery and as the program grows they will offer different types of groups.
The Celebrate recovery groups at First Baptist Church has had 25 to 40 people in attendance every week. Lynette states that everyone is welcome.
