GREAT FOOD WITH AN ALCOHOLIC DRINK
A couple of months have already passed since Lawrence County has become ‘wet’,allowing the sale of alcohol
in stores and restaurants. Lawrence County has been dubbed as ‘the drunkest county in the nation’, according to a study by The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation – made when Lawrence was still a dry county. This county recently experienced an undercover sting that targeted businesses selling to minors and saw a slight increase in DUI arrests.
After all of that, alcohol sales have increased profits to businesses, which is great for the county. Gabriel’s ToroLoco Mexican-American and Milano Cucina Italian Ristorante are two restaurants in Louisa that have been selling alcohol to the public since getting their licenses to do so. They sell a variety of alcoholic beverages, such as wine and margaritas.
Milano has a wide variety or wine and classic italian alcoholic drinks and Toro Loco has specialty drinks and bottled beer. Toro Loco runs many specials on their drinks, such as margaritas.
The restaurants are located in different shopping centers across Louisa. The Lazer will try to contact both restaurant owners/managers to get their input on how they have been impacted positively since the law went into effect (Toro Loco manager is out until the upcoming Wednesday and Milano’s Manager/Owner out until Friday).
More businesses around the county are looking into getting their license to sell alcohol because it will be a big boost to sales.
