CISCO PRESIDENT AND COO VISITS MSU WITH TALKS OF UPGRADING TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE
MOREHEAD — Gary B. Moore, president and chief operating officer of Cisco, visited Morehead State University Wednesday, July 7.
Cisco is the worldwide leader in IT that helps companies seize the opportunities of tomorrow by proving that amazing things can happen when you connect the previously unconnected.
“We feel that this visit by Gary Moore will enhance our partnership with Cisco for not only our current projects but also many future endeavors related to technology at the University,” said Steve Richmond, assistant vice president for technology and chief information officer.
Among those that toured the campus with Moore were Richmond, Bill Redwine, assistant vice president for auxiliary services, Jeffrey Kruth, space science antennae engineer, Chris Howes, executive director of infrastructure services, and Dr. Roger McNeil, dean of the College of Science.
Morehead State has embarked upon a very aggressive upgrade and expansion of its technology infrastructure which includes major investment in state of the art equipment. Pomeroy Technology of Hebron and Cisco Systems are key partners with MSU in this project. Moore felt that a personal visit to our campus would enable him to appreciate and better understand the breadth of the project.
At Cisco, Moore is responsible for driving profitable growth and enabling operational excellence for today and for the future.
Moore works across the company to set clear plans, establish priorities, allocate resources, and drive accountability through measurement. As Cisco’s first COO, he was responsible for driving Cisco’s Transformation and enabling Cisco’s growth businesses. A broad and diverse set of functions report to him: Supply Chain, Global Business Services, Information Technology, Global Marketing, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Government and Community Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Legal Services, Security and Trust, and Strategic Planning.
Previously, Moore led Cisco Services, a division with 10,000-plus employees that helps customers’ businesses work smarter. Under his leadership, Cisco Services grew from $3 billion to nearly $10 billion in annual revenue in 12 years.
Moore joined Cisco in 2001 from network consulting company Netigy, where as CEO he expanded the business globally through 22 months of continuous revenue growth. Previously he had a 26-year career at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), where he held a number of senior executive positions.
