A well known Lawrence County man who was seriously injured in a crash involving his motorcycle and a dump truck Tuesday afternoon in Boyd County later died due to his injuries.
Victor ‘Buddy’ Moore, 46, of Lawrence County, Kentucky, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at King’s Daughters Medical Center, according to the Boyd County Coroner.
The Boyd County Sheriff’s Department said the crash happened about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on South Big Run Road in Cannonsburg.
Moore was on his motorcycle, riding with several family members and friends on their motor bikes, when he crossed the center line and collided with the dump truck head-on, deputies said.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured. The name of the dump truck driver involved in the crash was not being released at this time.
Moore was a well-liked figure in Lawrence County and had many friends, who are now saddened and upset by the losing of his life.
Moore’s death is the latest of around a dozen accidents involving someone in Lawrence County or from Lawrence County in a neighboring area that has happened on a motorcycle or ATV in the last two months; most of whom suffered serious injuries and usually required air medical evacuations.
The latest previous accident took place just this past late Saturday morning June 28 just after 11 A.M. when an unidentified rider was involved in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of US 23 and Youngs Branch.
In the Tuesday accident Netcare EMS and Lowmansville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the motorcycle wreck at the intersection; where the injured rider was transported to the Valero gas station, where a landing zone was set up for the Air Evac Lifeteam 116 out of Inez, Kentucky, and was taken by the helicopter to a Huntington, West Virginia hospital.
